Patents
Advanced builds the tooling it invented. Each of these patents covers a part of the casting bed a producer touches: the joint between two liners, the coursing across a bed, the way brick is set, and what keeps concrete off the face of the brick. Shane Calmes is the sole named inventor on all eight, and all eight are assigned to Advanced Formliners, LLC.
| Patent | Title | Granted | What it covers | Status |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| US 10,400,461 B2 | Form liner with object sealant | 3 September 2019 | A gel sealant of wax and vegetable oil in the liner cavity, so concrete stays off the face of the brick during the pour. | Lapsed |
| US 10,119,280 B2 | Form liner for visually enhanced concrete | 6 November 2018 | Decorative material and pigment placed in the liner before the pour, so it casts into the face of the panel. | Lapsed |
| US 10,106,989 B2 | Apparatus for setting objects | 23 October 2018 | Raised guide members that meter the mortar and set thin brick or tile in position, in place of hand grouting. | In force |
| US 10,060,143 B2 | Formliner layout member | 28 August 2018 | A layout member that nests with the raised rows on the liner sheets, so brick coursing stays aligned sheet to sheet across the bed. | In force |
| US 8,888,067 B1 | Thermoplastic liner for casting textures and objects into poured wall | 18 November 2014 | The thermoformed liner that embeds brick in poured concrete and casts a tooled grout joint of varying width. | Lapsed |

| US D704,865 S | Formliner | 13 May 2014 | The ornamental design of the formliner itself. | In force |
| US D704,866 S | Formliner | 13 May 2014 | The ornamental design of the formliner itself. | In force |

The spec sheets carry the markings. Most pattern sheets show US 8,852,724 B2. The Solocast sheets and the accessories installation guide also show US 10,060,143 B2, US D704,865 S and US D704,866 S. The Flex2Fit sheets show US 8,888,067 B1 or US 8,852,724 B2.
Where each one shows up on the bed.
The bridge member is why a run of liners casts with no seam. The layout member is why coursing holds across a 40 foot bed. The setting apparatus and the object sealant are why brick faces come out of the form clean.
